You get all of the the
following:
- The vocal guide
track version of the song to reference (in both mp3 and WAV formats)
- The instrumental
track version of the song [for you to sing/perform/record to] (in
both mp3 and WAV formats)
- Official lyric
sheet
- Signed statement of
rights, stating your full ability to perform, record, pitch and
release the song as you see fit!
As in any case with an
artist performing someone's song, the songwriter obviously still
"owns" the song itself. You are purchasing the non-exclusive rights
to use the fully produced track to put your vocals on and promote
yourself as an artist! You have full rights to pitch it, showcase
it, perform it, etc.. You simply give the songwriter credit when
credit is due... as any established artist would once they
cut someone's song. You owe nothing after the initial payment. The
songwriter will be paid through their own channels (bmi, etc..) if
the song were to take off or generate songwriting royalties. You
will be paid as the artist. It's very simple and works great for
both the singer and the songwriter!
